Protect the Local Gap
Abbotts Ann Parish Council
POSSIBLE DEVELOPMENT OF 60 HOUSES
RETENTION OF THE LOCAL GAP
There is an URGENT NEED for residents of Abbotts Ann to comment on TVBC’s draft Revision to the Local Plan produced by TVBC to guide the quantity and location of development in Test Valley up to 2042. There are 2 main issues for Abbotts Ann.
60 houses. TVBC has to find land to build nearly 16,000 new homes between now and 2042 and proposes allocating this development according to the presence of services and transportation. In the case of Abbotts Ann a development of 60 houses is proposed on land known as ‘Bulbery Field’ on the southern edge of the village, with access from Duck Street. The Parish Council believes that this would be excessive.
Note that this is separate from the Community Land Trust’s proposed development of 24 dwellings on land next to the village school.
Local Gap, the designation of space between Andover and the village of Abbotts Ann as “Local Gap” is very important to retaining the separate identity of the village and in preventing coalescence with Andover. We URGE you to write to TVBC to support the retention of the Abbotts Ann Local Gap for the protection and identity of Abbotts Ann village.
The community’s comment on theses 2 issues, 60 HOUSES and LOCAL GAP is vital. Please make your opinion known.
